GATCO Policy Committees meet on a regular basis, to discuss issues relating to airspace,
air traffic operations, formulating new procedures and facilities & equipment.
For many years now the Guild has provided representatives to serve on other aviation organisation's committees.
It is through these channels that GATCO exerts influence and provides help and advice to the wider aviation community.
These include..
The Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS)
We are a member of the Aviation Safety Committee of PACTS. The purpose of the Committee is to provide MPs with a panel of experts advising on all aspects of aviation safety.
The National Air Traffic Services Management Committee (NATMAC)
We have two representatives on NATMAC, one specialising in en-route matters and the other in aerodrome.
NATMAC provides a panel of representatives from all aspects of aviation who advise the Director of Airspace Policy (DAP) of all airspace requirements. There are
four sub-groups within
NATMAC : Maps and Charts, General Aviation, Airline Working Group and Spectrum and Surveillance. GATCO has a representative on the Spectrum and Surveillance working group which deals with radio and radar spectrum issues such as
frequency protection, lightweight transponders and other SSR issues.
The United Kingdom Airprox Board (UKAB)
We have an area and an aerodrome nominee on the UKAB, which meets regularly to assess and evaluate AIRPROX reports and make any recommendations.
The Air Traffic Services Safety Regulation Advisory Committee (ATSSRAC)
We have one nominee on this committee, which provides a panel of representatives
from ATS providers, controllers and ATC training organisations to advise the Air Traffic Services Standards Department (ATSSD) on the effects of safety regulation.

We have one area and one aerodrome nominee in this group which addresses ATC issues that affect BALPA members.
