GATCO is widely involved in many UK and international activities and discussion groups that influence the air traffic control profession. This can be classified into two main areas - professional and technical.
GATCO's Policy Committee Team is responsible for the development of GATCO's policy on behalf of its members,
addressing such issues as Training & Licensing, ATC Capacity, Human Factors, Airspace Management, Future Technology and the application of Automation to the task of ATC.
The process by which policy is formulated takes place throughout the year. The proposals, in the form of Working Papers, are listed below. Members are encouraged to comment on and contribute to the draft text.

The policy process culminates at the AGM, which is open to all members. Here the proposed policy is discussed and, subject to acceptance by the members, formally adopted. In this way the wider GATCO membership
exercises control over policy development.
Ultimately, papers reflecting GATCO policies are presented to national & international conferences. This ensures that our view is heard by national & international ATC policy makers.
